U.S. Congressman Darrell Issa, who represents California’s 48th district, has recently posted several comments on social media regarding state politics and national immigration policy.

On January 16, Issa questioned the location of an incident in a brief post: “Was this in California?” (2026-01-16).

Later that evening, he criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom’s approach to filling vacant legislative seats: “When its a Democrat seat, Newsom says the goal is representation as soon as possible. When its Republican, he purposely leaves constituents stranded.” (2026-01-17).

In another post on January 17, Issa commented on public opinion regarding immigration enforcement: “Americans overwhelmingly support detaining and deporting dangerous, criminal illegal aliens.” (2026-01-17).

Darrell Issa has served in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Duncan D. Hunter. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1953 and currently residing in San Diego, Issa is also an alumnus of Siena Heights University where he earned his BA in 1976.
