Darrell Issa, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 48th district since 2021, recently posted several statements on his Twitter account addressing issues ranging from healthcare policy to government regulation and international affairs.
On January 9, 2026, Issa criticized the expansion of the Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obamacare), stating: “On Obamacare expansion – hard to imagine a worse deal
Despite the govt having the largest purchasing power in the country
The taxpayer pays 100% of the premium
And, the patient pays MORE for care than if they had NO coverage at all.
Americans deserve better.”
Later that day, Issa commented on regulatory practices affecting home construction. He wrote: “How many government offices does it take to regulate home construction?
Too many.
Today, Congress is rolling back extra rules to lower the cost of manufactured homes.” This statement comes amid ongoing legislative efforts in Congress aimed at reducing regulatory burdens on housing and making manufactured homes more affordable.
On January 10, 2026, Issa addressed international matters with a brief post regarding Iran: “The people of Iran believe in freedom!”
Issa has served in Congress since replacing Duncan D. Hunter in 2021 and currently resides in San Diego. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1953 and a graduate of Siena Heights University with a BA earned in 1976, he brings decades of experience to his role as legislator.
