Darrell Issa, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 48th district, posted a series of tweets on January 7, 2026, touching on the passing of a colleague, the value of cursive writing, and the scenery in San Diego.

In a tweet from early that morning, Issa expressed condolences for Doug LaMalfa: “To know @DougLaMalfa was to like him. He will be greatly missed by all.” (posted January 7, 2026). Later that day, he commented on handwriting education with the statement: “Cursive deserves a comeback.” (posted January 7, 2026). Darrell Issa has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after succeeding Duncan D. Hunter. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1953 and currently residing in San Diego, Issa holds a BA from Siena Heights University. He continues to represent California’s 48th district in the U.S. House of Representatives.
