7,875 people die from COVID-19 during the week ending April 25

There were 7,875 COVID-19 deaths reported in the U.S. during the week ending April 25, according to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data available on May 8.

A total of 49,968 deaths regardless of cause were reported in the U.S., meaning COVID-19-related deaths makeup 15.8 percent of that total.

Totals are reported as they're provided by the CDC. It is important to note that the CDC updates total cases and deaths as more information becomes available, and totals can increase significantly over a few weeks.
