Darrell Issa, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 48th district, has been vocal on social media about environmental regulations and fire prevention measures. He replaced Duncan D. Hunter in 2021 and has served since then.

On January 24, 2025, Issa expressed concerns about environmental regulations in a tweet stating: "We can't wait. Environmental rules have become regulatory ‘green tape’ — locking in dangerous fire conditions and contradicting common sense. My bill will remove the hurdles to help prevent the next fire disaster."

The following day, on January 25, he tweeted about an event with former President Donald Trump: "Honored to be with @realDonaldTrump this afternoon in California talking fire recovery and prevention. California needs his common-sense leadership."

Later that day, Issa made a brief post referencing Secretary Hegseth: "Secretary Hegseth!"
