Darrell Issa, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 48th district, has shared his perspectives on government spending and border security through a series of tweets. Serving in Congress since 2021 after replacing Duncan D. Hunter, Issa continues to be an active voice on various issues.
On February 3, 2025, Issa commented on taxpayer expenditures, stating that "If a space isn't needed, then the taxpayer shouldn't have to pay for it." He suggested that this stance marks only the beginning of efforts to reduce unnecessary costs.
In another tweet posted later the same day, Issa detailed changes in border security under President Trump’s administration within two weeks. He noted measures such as shutting down illegal border entrants and ending the CBPone App. Additionally, he mentioned reinstating the Remain in Mexico policy and enhancing military reinforcements at the border. The post highlighted other actions like expanding criminal alien detention spaces and granting DEA agents deportation authority while terminating Venezuela TPS: "In just 2 weeks..."
Later that evening, Issa criticized Democrats for their rapid response to prevent public scrutiny over government spending decisions: "Look how fast Democrats mobilized to stop the American people from knowing exactly how they spent your money."
